Closing Day Sunday May 6
We made a very tough decision today. Arapahoe Basin will close for the season Sunday, May 6. With the light snowfall, big wind events, and warm temperatures, Mother Nature made life for Colorado skiers very difficult this year. We often say we will stay open as long as there is snow and as long as people keep skiing. Well, this year we are running out of both snow and skiers. I apologize to all of you. We really wanted to stay open into June, but sometimes things happen we don't like. Next season............................

NOOOOOOOOO!!!! This is terrible news. We had a whole event planned for May 11th ... t-shirts being made and everything. The snow was SO good last weekend.
On top of that, what are you going to do with the New Belgium raffle that was supposed to take place on 5/11?
Hey Bear,
We are working on details on the New Belgium event. Stand by for details.

Thanks for the response Al. I understand you guys are in a bad spot and have to make some tough decisions. Even though it wasn't great snow this year, we still had many fun times at Basin. Thanks for everything.
Thanks for staying open as long as you could! We love the Basin! Is this the earliest closing in recent years?
Any news on the lake would love to pond skim before the season ends
Just curious - what's the earliest you've ever closed for the season? Is this it?
I remember the good old days when A Basin truly would stay open as long as there was snow and people.
Exo would be open for uploading and downloading only. And we would ski on Lenawee and Norway lifts. I even remember one year when A Basin stayed open only from midway up on Lenawee. The good old days are over.
Bummer! Well thanks for the good times and memories. Hope to see Rio again soon. Good luck little girl! Have a great summer.
Sincerely,
Our Gang
What a shame...we were visiting from puerto rico on may 26 and we were planning to get private lessons, my son was so exited :( but these things happen. What will happen to the beer festival and concert? Is that still on schedule?
Any lake update? Is the snow just so weird it didn't make an appearance?
Thanks for everything, though. A tough season, but had some great fun up there.
In 1981 we closed April 30.
No sign of Lake Reveal. Yes very interesting.
The old days sure were good. So are these days.
So sad. I extended my stay in Denver after my conference specifically to take advantage of late spring boarding. Too late to make changes. Really disappointing. Is it worth coming up for closing day? I could probably make it to A-Basin by 11ish.
Timothy,
Definitely still worth coming. Although there is not a lot open, the surfaces of what we have still have really good spring conditions. Plus, I think Sunday will be a vintage A-Basin scene.

A whole month early! Darn this season! I had so much fun last weekend. Why?! WHY!!!!
Too bad you're closing but it's been a tough year. We had a great time last weekend and my 1 month old son got his first taste of the Basin. We'll see you again in October!

Half of Denver gave up on skiing in February. There hasn't been traffic or lift lines for the past 4 WEEKENDS.
I'm thankful for what we got, I had a great season!
Right on. No lines, no traffic and a great scene.
Hard to see it end.
I know this decision was not made lightly. Thanks for always being extremely transparent about the happenings at A-basin.
See you Sunday!
I really don't see what the complaining could be about as well. I had a great season! There were hardly any lift lines anywhere, and the snow was just fine. I except it will better next season, however. See you then. -Mike
