Comparison To Last Year

We have a good steady snow falling right now.  That says it all.  I have been getting a lot of questions about how this year compares to last.

For A-Basin, the two seasons tracked on a fairly similar path into February.  Last season we had several unpleasant wind events that have not occurred this season.  Most importantly, March 2013 and March 2012 could not be more different.  Last year March was warm (almost hot) and dry.  It was our driest March on record with only 12 inches of snow. This year March was snowy and cool with 64 inches of snow, 23% above average.

I think we are in a really good place right now.  The 10 day forecast on Opensnow.com shows 3 different moisture events coming towards us.  April is the snowiest month of the year at A-Basin.  Last fall, we had good snowmaking on our core trails.  The East Wall is open and coming alive.

At this time last year conditions were less than ideal and deteriorating.  Right now conditions are great and improving, with snow in the forecast.

Our scheduled closing day is June 2.  Let's forget about last year.
