Steep Gullies Hike Back Trail

The Steep Gullies Hike Back Trail will be about 3,000 feet long and about 25 feet wide, slightly wider than a snowcat. The trail roughly parallels Highway 6 and the North Fork of the Snake River. The River lies between the trail and the highway. Distance from the trail to the highway ranges from 400 to 900 feet. The highway is not visible from the trail. Most of the trail has fairly thick forest on both sides. It has has a moderate uphill climb gaining approximately 300 vertical feet. There is an open section of trail at the bottom of Pallavicini Trail that is about 500 feet long. From that opening there are tremendous views of Black Mountain, The Professor and The Widow (see photo below). The trail will be groomed regularly and if you like moving uphill, you will find it to be an enjoyable and scenic walk or skin. Most people will take 15-30 minutes to reach the bottom of Pallavicini Lift.
