What A Day
Check out this great photo by Tim Gormley.
Just a a beautiful day with lots going on. Sunny all morning with clouds moving in late. It is snowing heavily now, Sunday night.
The East Wall opened mid-morning following the 20" storm. I was one of the first hikers up North Pole. Great powder skiing all the way down. Slid out the traverse and found more untracked skiing under Birthday Chute.
We had over 100 7-13 year olds skiing a Devo Freestyle Dual Moguls event on Lower International. Very cool. Lots of great skiing and jumping. Those kids define how fun skiing can be. The highlight of the event for me was the forerunners competing head to head. The skiers were Rex Wehrman and Justin Henceroth. Despite using big fat powder skis, those two can still turn it on and love to compete.

8" New
That came out of nowhere. This morning's avalanche forecaster tells me light and fluffy. He says it is still dumping at 6:15 this morning.

Tribute to Leif
Rex Lint made a very beautiful and very powerful tribute to Leif that is now posted on the Powder Magazine website. Grab a box of Kleenex, get comfortable, and be prepared to be moved.

Broken Record
I feel like I am saying the same thing over and over again. Yesterday, Kay and I skied for about 3 hours. Incredible. The wind was blowing hard enough to slow Pali lift every once in a while. The direction was good and the whole North Side kept filling in. The sun was out most of the time. Obviously, the main-stays, The Spine and The Face, were perfect. Lots of other great skiing - Waterfall, Mousetrap, East Avenue, Rock Garden, Standard, Challenger, Scudder, North Chute, Lower International. Good to be out there - especially if you like soft, smooth, and fast skiing.

Just One Of Those Days On Pali
Tuesday was just one of those days where everything is perfect. It was warm and sunny. The snow was smooth. 2nd Bowl, 3rd Bowl, The Spine, and The Face were buffed out. A lot of friends and family were out there tearing it up. Spirits were high. Many laughs at The Center of The Universe.
We are winding down several days of spectacular, bluebird weather. Looks like the snow is starting tonight and continuing through the weekend. Feels like an incredible season just keeps getting better.
