Getting To Be Summer
Summer is working to hard to make an appearance. Here are some pictures from today's mid-mountain tour. Flowers are starting to poke out.

North Fork
Beneath all that snow, the North Fork ski trail is actually quite the bubbling stream. I think some might call it a raging creek during run off.

Yoga On The Mountain
One of coolest summer events, Yoga on the Mountain, will be offered July 16. Guests hike the Argentine North Fork Trail to Black Mountain Lodge. Overlooking the East Wall and the high alpine tundra, people enjoy a yoga session on the BML deck. After generating an appetite, guests enjoy a Chef Rybak lunch followed by a hike back to the base area. A nap at home may be required later.
I mention this early because yesterday morning I was thumbing through the summer bookings and realized this event is already 50% booked. The Yoga event is always a sellout. If interested, sign up on the website very soon.

Mid-Mountain Walk
I walked up to mid-mountain this morning. The summer road is still quite muddy in places. We did plow the road to help speed up the drying out process. The Argentine North Fork Trail has zones that are clear of snow and zones still with 2-3 feet of snow. The "greening" up of the mountain has begun. This time of year there a noticeable change in snowmelt and greening each and every day. The road is OK for walking, but stay off the Argentine North Fork Trail for now.

Changing Quickly
We have had some very nice summer weather and are expecting highs near 70 F over the weekend. The snow is going fast. Much of the summer service road is now exposed although it is still wet and mucky. We have lifted the Uphill Access closure. While I don't recommend skiing right now, it won't be long before people want to start wandering the mountain.

Patroller of the Year - Louis Skowyra
Last week standout Arapahoe Basin Ski Patroller Louis Skowyra was named the Colorado Ski Country USA Patroller of the Year. His specialty is leading our snow farming program. If it involves snowcats, snowfences, catching snow, and opening ski trails, Louis is in the middle of it. He has an amazing impact on each and every one of your ski days. In addition to being an incredible patroller, Louis is active in our community and served as Mayor Pro Tem and Town Council Member for the Town of Dillon. All and all, just a great guy. Thanks Louis. You make us proud.
