I've heard the Basin has been pretty weak with the park and no jumps this year. Can anybody tell me what is open and what is in the park? What features, how many, if any?
It's mid May, either you wanna slide on snow or you don't.... Was there today it it looked way better than keystone or breck this time of year.....
Depends on what you mean by weak. It's been warm, except for the recent snow. The warm temps have been making it nice and slushy, but once it gets over 44, it gets sticky... mostly around noon. Better than ice, though. Everything is open. East wall opens here and there. Park: crap... only because it's so small. It's like a box and a few rails, over in three seconds. Best part right now is bombing down the front. When there's pow, everywhere is good. I love the bowl, dropping off the west wall, and the trees are legendary.
4 features, basically nothing. Picnic Table feature, a few double rails, and flat down tube.
RangerRick you sound like a park rat that wouldn't appreciate the greatness of the Basin. Go back to Keystoner.
you don't ski abasin for the park
It is spring skiing. This isn't mid February powder lines. You go out and have fun any way you can. A couple park features aren't going to ruin your day and it is what, 1/500th of the terrain? I think most of us get you guys are cooler than everybody on the mountain cause your "purists". Rockin' the one-pieces and skiing the straight skis. 60 underfoot and 215 long or get out. :-)Thanks to Leo and first Anonymous for the straight answers minus the attitude.
You go to A-Basin and want to play in the park? If you are waisting your time in a park while at A-Basin you don't deserve to be there. Go watch TV. I could understand the park thing if you were skiing in New Jersey, but A-Basin?
Skiing and snowboarding are fun. You guys are dumb. Ps there are 7 features. If there is one urban down rail we should be thankful, which there is. Not to mention awesome slush bumps and wind features!
