Update For Thursday Morning

It started snowing at midnight and hasn't stopped yet.

We did close at 2 PM today. CDOT closed Highway 6 at Keystone and we were concerned about the slide paths that affect the road. Tomorrow, at dawn's early light, A-Basin and CDOT will begin avalanche mitigation work along the highway and within the ski area. We are hoping for a normal or near-normal opening Thursday, depending on the mitigation results. Stay tuned to our website and the blog for details.

I will update the blog by 8 AM Thursday.

Great day of pow riding, got to the Early Riser parking lot at 7am. One of the first people on the lift at 9am. Rode Montezuma bowl before it closed. Palli chair was so good, even right before you shut down at 2pm. Mid-week powder days rock.

Al,
I heard on national radio news earlier today a couple of interstate closures in CO, part of I-70 and another on the northern border. Now that Iʻve had a chance to check out the AB website and the national radar all I can say is WOW. Iʻve referred to the winter of 81-82 before on your page. I said a month or so ago that this winter was looking like a carbon copy of 81-82. I am so jealous, some of you folks are in for a once in a lifetime thrill - hey Al not everybody gets to live in Summit County and jump on these opportunities - ok Iʻll shut up, Iʻm still jealous.

Took a look at the temperatures you have been getting and oh my gosh that is going to be some sweet dry powder.

About to head up. Looks like Blackhawk won't be the only place to take a gamble today as I'll probably be at Keystone by the time the blog updates. :D

All of these closures and traffic jams are not giving me a lot of confidence about having an Abasin only pass next year.

Keystone was amazing yesterday! Stick to black runs if you can. They’re nearly untouched and the blues were SO heavily ridden and choppy yesterday.
