Hey Al, controversial question: what do you think is the steepest run, or steepest line within a run on the mountain?

Not controversial at all. Pali Face is probably the longest, most sustained, steepest run in the area. Waterfall might be purely the steepest although dropping into Snorkel Nose from the Snorkel Door is pretty darn steep. I'd love to hear what others think is the steepest line.

Pali face is definately the steepest I've skied although I have never skied snorkel nose or snorkel door.

I'd go with Waterfall, West Turbo or the drop-in to 2nd notch.

Hey, does anyone know what happened on friday 1/4/2013. I was there w/ my 2 children all day. We had just packed up and as we were about to leave I saw flight for life. It was strange cuz I thought the heli was a little low but next thing I know the heli landed on molly hogan and someone was medivac'd over the pass. My wife and I are both RN's and have been since 1998. We were rankin our brains trying to figure out the injury. My 5 and 3 yr old just where in amazement. All the way home to golden they both kept saying " when I grow up I'm gonna be a heli pilot ". My wife and I got a kick out of that. On a serious note I hope the person injured is OK and will be able to be back on the hill soon. Anyway, been searching websites and haven't found any onfo in regards to the accident. BTW, any chute on the east wall ( after the hike to the top ) is hands down the steepest run at the Basin. 2nd waterfall

We did have a helicopter evacuation Friday. Due to the personal nature of an accident, we do not comment on the details regarding an individual. Sorry about that.

I've always thought Gauthier and West Turbo were the steepest. Even though I have been skiing the Basin since 1990, I have to admit that I have no idea where the snorkel door or waterfall are. Are these some of the chutes you can climb to on the East Wall? If so then, yeah, those are pretty darn steep too.

Waterfall is that steep rocky pitch at the end of West Alley that is sometimes roped off if the snow is lean. IMO it's steeper than most skiable areas of the east wall. Snorkel is hike-to terrain on the east wall, between Willy's Wide and Corner Chute.

I agree with the call for any terrain park pics. Would love to get up to the Basin more, but right now Keystone park is putting most to shame even in their limited opening.
