Bar Remodel

We are working fast and furiously on the bar remodel.  Tearing into an old building is no small task.  It has been quite a challenge to pull the whole project together.  Many people, architects, contractors, engineers, designers, building inspectors and many of us at The Basin have been working to make it happen.

As the project progresses, I will keep you posted on its development, including photos.  While this is going to be a big change, we are going to keep the culture and vibe the same.  The old 6th Alley was certainly colorful (you should have seen what it replaced).  The new bar is going to fix a lot of the challenges with the old place. Some highlights of the new 6th Alley include:

-The new bar space will be double the size including the Coffee Corner room
-A much more open and higher ceiling
-Bigger and more windows with more complete mountain views
-Fewer, but better placed doors
-The physical bar top (what you lean on) will be twice as big and we will be able serve people much more effectively and efficiently
-New windows and insulation will be weather tight, being both greener and warmer
-It will much easier to move around and interact with your friends and soon to be friends
-Better stage for live music
-20 beers on tap
-Getting rid of the clutter
-And maybe a few funky surprises

So, stay tuned.  If you are afraid of this change, take a deep breath.  This is going to be a beautiful space that allows of us to serve guests much better and it will be an even more open and welcoming place to enjoy time with friends and family.  I think you will like it.

Couldn't help but comment on the 20 count of tap beer. Time to slim down before the season comes and the après ski at the new bar will be more tempting than ever!
Slimming time !

Thanks for the update and I admire how over the last several years you've improved the ski/ride experience, while maintaining the unique feel of A-Basin.
One improvement I'd like to see, related to this upgrade, would be the ability to occupy the lodge on the slope-side even when the bar isn't open yet. That would be the best part of the lodge for booting up, and it is frustrating when we can't use it in the morning. But overall I applaud the work of you and the whole A-Basin staff. Thank you! -dana

Al, I know this is probably physically impossible and not in the plan, but with the "beach theme" of A-Basin it almost made sense to have part of the "bar" open to the deck. Think every 3rd Florida beach bar. The classic garage door when the weather dictated. Dream, I know.

Seriously, merely upping the dimensions of the actual serving bar will help tons. 2 bartenders (normal staff) can only serve so fast, but being able to put more people there will help greatly.

Wow, must be like the 5th or 6th 6th Alley Bar I've gotten comfy in at the Basin! There was the (first one?) down where the bathrooms are now (no kidding really!) Then think it was at the other end where the store is now, the store was where the bar is now. Then (or before this?) the bar was upstairs where the microwave is if I recall. Then the current location, then the first remodel of the current location, and now the new remodel of the remodel of the current location. Someone count this up, I'm working at a gallery in Georgetown today and high altitude math is a bit much with the decreased O2!

Can't wait! Moved to Aspen but we are definitely swooping in on the 4paks asap. Still have all the famdamily and friends and couches to use in Denver!
