Back To Winter

I had just fully resigned myself to the idea that spring was here to stay.  It felt like the snowfall was over.  Wrong.  6" over the last two mornings.  It is snowing right now.  We should see somewhere between "a few" and "several" more inches by tomorrow morning.  Never underestimate the weather up here.  This makes the June 2 decision that much more interesting.

I am happy to hear that june 2nd is not set in stone. I'll be there twice a week until you close at least, I promise!

Your closing date has to be influenced by economics. Doesn't make sense to spend $100 to stay open when you only bring in $80. Weekends bring greater crowds. Any thoughts on extending season by weekends only? Maybe Friday thru Sunday until Fourth of July??

I think in past years A-Basin has stayed open on Fri/Sat/Sun, when snow conditions permit. Doubt conditions would allow until July 4th this year, unless we a huge May dumping of snow.

How much snow since February 1st? How much for May?

NO!! Don't go to weekends only! We're planning on driving out there from Illinois next week, Tue-Thu!

It certainly could make sense to spend $100 when you make $80. It's not always about the money. If you win over customer loyalty, that generates revenue in the future. I had never skied A-Basin until this year because I just didn't think it was for me. Now that I see their commitment to the skiers, they have won a new patron. The food is great, the skiing is great. The views are great. If they had not extended themselves, I would likely not have even tried it out. I tried it out because the other places closed. Now they have me forever.... They might just win over a few new patrons, but the money they'll spend next year could outweigh the little bit of overhead in staying open longer.

One request. If you are going to keep this open for a while then do post as early as you can. Flights are getting more and more expensive...

Another terrific day at the Basin today (Tue). Zuma Bowl is holding strong. Many laps back there, plus they were filming a Duracell commercial. You can't top the coppertop! Still can't believe there's not even a peek of Lake Reveal. Memorial Day weekend Beach Bash won't be the same without some pond skimming, but I'm okay with some colder temps sustaining the base. Al, whatever you & the crew decide regarding anything beyond June 2, it's all gravy beyond Memorial Day.
