Cornice Run

Spent a little bit time out on the hill this morning. Cornice / West Wall was really good.  Lenawee Parks opened later. I didn't ski it myself, but reports were good. One of my favorite skis at The Basin is The Cornice Run. The views from it are unmatched. The Ten Mile Range, Gore Range, Front Range, even Mt. of the Holy Cross in the Sawatch Range are all visible and striking. Next time you ski that trail, be sure and stop a time or two and take it all in.

Al,
Its my first time skiing the Basin this year and I have a lift question. Once the trails around Norway lift open will you run the lift on a regular basis? It seems like that lift would be more condusive to top to bottom runs allowing a quick hop from BMX to Norway to get back to the top. I'm assuming its faster too being that its a shorter distance (I think) unless that lift is really slow because of its age. I'm Loving skiing the basin and commend you for this blog. Thanks for all the hard work.

Hi Brian, once we have more of the Upper Mountain open, we run Norway on busier days, typically weekends and holidays. It is about the same length as Lenawee and the ride is maybe a minute shorter. Norway only serves about half the Upper Mountain terrain that Lenawee does. We use it as a capacity overflow to Lenawee. There are several A-Basin folks that really love to ride it.

Lenawee is getting a bit crowded. I'd like to see Norway open soon...

Hi! When is humbug going to be widened? (move the ropes/sticks farther apart) Next good storm?

With snow and good wind, Humbug will keep get wider.

I hope Norway stays, no flat run-out like to Lenewee, additional uphill capacity will be needed to serve the beavers, I prefer that side of the basin, and had the setup of Lenawee, I always feel like I am taking my life in my own hands skiing to the base of Lenawee.

PLEASE consider keeping, and eventually upgrading Norway.

I cut my days short when Norway is closed
