Zuma Closed

Today, June 3, was the final day of the season for Montezuma Bowl. We really wanted to keep it open through Sunday, but Mother Nature had other plans. While most of Columbine and Shining Light are still quite good, the lower pitch going into the bottom lift terminal has simply melted too much. M.N. can be fickle that way. This year Montezuma Bowl opened December 23 giving The Bowl a 163 day season. I hope you guys had as much fun back there as I did.

Historical closing dates for Montezuma Bowl are:

2008   May 22
2009   May 14
2010   May 16
2011   June 5
2012   March 25
2013   May 27
2014   June 1
2015   June 3
2016   June 3

Not June 3, 2016

Hey Al,

Looking at the webcam pics today and the forecast for the next week - do you still think you'll be open next weekend (the extension weekend)? Seems like that might be tough. Should people bring their mountain bikes instead? Maybe people should make sure they get out there this weekend for final turns. By the way love the pic here that's "not June 3, 2016."

"Anonymous - But but global warming" - FYI they are over 50 inches below average for the season and the temps have been extremely warm.

I skied Zuma backside on Memorial Day - it was in great shape.
I was happy that it was open that long...
I think we had a wonderful season so far, February notwithstanding.

Thank you Mother Nature and ABasin Team.
