Lenawee Opens Friday

Lenawee Mountain Chairlift and Lenawee Face and Dercum's Gulch ski trails will open for this season Friday morning. I took a spin on the Upper Mountain this afternoon. Beautiful. The Tuesday day and Tuesday night snowmaking session was a big boost for Dercum's Gulch. Those bony spots I mentioned yesterday look really good. Tonight and tomorrow night the snowmakers will put the final frosting on the trail. The cat drivers will put on the final corduroy groom and the ski patrollers will do the rope closure, pad, sign thing. The Lift Ops and Maintenance have been ready for weeks. The skiing is exceptionally good and we will have a very fun opening on Friday.

How is it possible that Keystone can open an immense amount of terrain in the time that makes A-Basin look weak... Do they pull water from the Keystone lake?

I'm so stoked for the season gaining momentum! Thank you A-Basin!

i think keystone has some wells. I have heard they also pull water from the Roberts tunnel as well. A basin is so high up in the basin, that there is very little stream flow. A basin diverts what they can from this stream, but minimum stream flows must be maintained. A basin is not weak, just hydrologically(is that a word) challenged. Plus the natural terrain is much rockier than the golf courses most resorts are built on.

Al, thanks for how hard your staff works. I'd guess everyone who works at a ski resort does so because they love skiing as much as the guests.....if we're getting antsy, I'm sure y'all are also.....plus there's the whole lack of revenue from lack of customers from lack of snow.

Very excited. I appreciate the work put in by you and the crew to get us skiing this very challenging season, we know it isn't easy. Also love the blog.
