Scattered about the mountain are a few old foundations. These concrete pads and steel were for the original Upper Mountain single chair installed for the 1946-47 ski season. At the same time, another single chair was installed approximately where Black Mountain Express exists today. These two lifts were some of Colorado's very earliest chairlifts.
