Pali Lift Saturday

It is time. You may have already heard. Pallavicini Lift will open for the season this Saturday at 8:30. The skiing and riding off the top of the lift is awesome. Today we opened Slalom Slope for a while. Over the coming days look forward to skiing Powderkeg, Radical and, who knows, maybe Standard and 13 Cornices. Other terrain on the Upper Mountain, Norway and the rest of Lenawee Parks are opening and widening. There is a good time to be had.  IT IS DEFINITELY TIME.

Hey Al,

Some of the long time everyday riders of the basin are kinda wondering where the love has gone. Traditionally with enough snow to open new terrain that is what has happened. I understand it takes some time for everyone to get new terrain ready to open and I appreciate their hard work. I do think however that waiting until sat to open pali is more of a corporate decision than a skiers decision, clearly without any New snow since wends there is enough to open Pali right now, and if logic follows yesterday as well. Common Al, lets get the terrain open when it warrants, not when it will attract the most front rangers.

Wow, tough one to answer. The skiing is great. We are moving forward despite really cold temperatures. A lot of fun skiing is opening up. Pali is opening ahead of schedule. Very interesting interpretation of what is going on.

It's OK Al,
I think there are people in this world that could win a million dollars, and still complain about the color of the money.
Just sayin

Thank the crew for getting Pali open so early. I guess some people forget loyal Basin riders may also be weekend skiers. I probably speak for all of Summit County residents who work Mon-Fri during the day, thanks for all you guys do.

Hey Al, i'm pumped to get out there next week even more with all the new terrain opening up. Have you been told a date when 6th Alley bar will open yet?

Al, don't let the complainers get you down/influence what you do. As you can already see, most of us appreciate what the staff is doing to get more terrain open as is safe/possible, whatever the exact timing may be.

I know better than to think this was a decision based on catering to Front Rangers. I live in Denver now, but grew up in the mountains 35 years ago, and still have family in the mountains. Smart mountain folk realize those FR's are a critical piece of the mountain economy. Plus, they're people, too. Pathetic, really, to always be dogging them.

So excited to ride Pali again!

Al I'm curious - when do you typically open Pali?

Going back 17 years, Pali Lift has opened 4 times in November, 7 times in December and 6 times in January. Of those 17 years, it open before December 7, 5 times and December 7 or later 12 times. Each year we plan to open the lift about December 15-20.

they open up lifts and terrain mid week all the time. theres usually about 4 factors or more that come together maybe not on the exact same day but around the same time, that dictates when its time to open and close lifts. Last year was desperate in the beginning, so stuff opened with less snow cover than ideal and the proof is on my bases. Whether or not terrain ready open isn't cut and dry its more of spectrum thing with a lot of variables if you think about it

Maybe anonymous posters should just shut up. If you think your opinion is that good, let us know who you are. At least that's how this anonymous poster feels...

Thank you for all you do. A-Basin is the best. I'm very much looking forward to skiing Pali.

And to the people complaining about the "front-rangers": Please grow up. Go back country skiing if you want a wilderness experience. Do you have any idea how lucky you are to have access to a place like this to begin with?

Does this include the pali TRAIL and other signature trails such as turbo will open as well?

Mike,

Did you read the blog? Al was pretty clear about what trails would and might be open.
