Skiing Pali

Had the day off from work today...............So, of course, headed up to The Basin with family and friends for some good skiing. We spent a few hours lapping Pali. While still early season, we found plenty of good snow. The Spine is still skiing nicely. The Upper Standard / Lower International route was good fun. I think the best snow, lines, and conditions we found were on the Northern half of Slalom Slope. Buttery. It was nice to fall into the "Pali Loop." Ride the lift. Connect with a few people at the top. Ski some good lines. Re-group at the bottom. Do it all again, and again, and again. Nice day off. Cool photo by Aaron Serna.

Here here! Slalom Slope's north half was indeed buttery yesterday, but surprisingly not a lot of folks were skiing/riding it.

The great thing about Pali is the amazing variety of terrain it serves, with so little schlepping to get to it. It's quite literally the only lift you really need. I've spent multiple days lapping that single lift bell to bell without once getting bored.

Of course it's great to take a spin over to the backside or explore some other resorts for variety, but if I absolutely had to choose only 1 lift to ride for the rest of my life, it would be Pali, hands down.

What Anonymous - you don't like to schlep? Or endlessly traverse to get to some pitch? You're probably one of those types who doesn't even savor extended walks through outdoor malls in your ski boots? For shame! hahaha.

No, you have it right, A-Basin it IT. And Pali is the heart. (I also give high marks to Loveland, Mad River Glen (a co-op)and some others, including Alta.) So much character, so low-key. As it should be.
