March 13 COVID-19 Update

One of our employees that was answering phones in the Call Center last Saturday has become ill.  That employees has seen a physician and the physician has prescribed a COVID-19 test. The test is scheduled for today. We have been told that getting test results takes at least 72 hours.

We have been in direct communication with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. Following their recommendations and in an abundance of caution, we are taking the following precautions. The employee and the four employees that worked directly with the employee are in self quarantine until we get the test results. The area where the employee worked was cleaned immediately after we became aware of the illness. As part of a larger effort, the Call Center and adjoining offices are being comprehensively cleaned a second time today. Further efforts include increased cleaning across the ski area especially in the Kids Center and Food and Beverage operations. We anticipate the Call Center and all ski area operations to be open Saturday.

We will continue to update this message as new information becomes available.  For additional information about Colorado skiing and COVID-19 check out Colorado Ski Country USA.

In order to do whatever it takes to stop the rapidly expanding spread of this dreaded disease here in Colorado, it’s time to at least suspend the ski season. After seeing exponential spread of the disease in China and South Korea, they took very strong measures to institute social distancing and are now seeing almost no new cases of the virus.

The right thing to do for society is to shut down. But Al puts money ahead of everything else.

We'll get the last laugh when Gov Polis shuts you down Al. Coming in 3...2...

The right thing for society to do is reign in their infantile hysteria.

You people are idiots. You’re covered head to toe when skiing and snowboarding. Pee in the trees and pack PB&J and you literally never have to be exposed to anyone. It’s all we have left and you want to shut it down? You people are idiots.

These people are absolutely right they should suspend there ski season. They are the same people buying up all the toilet paper. Life is a risk these people like imposing there stupid ideas on everyone. Driving i70 is more dangerous then any viruses.
Shutting down all the ski resorts on the planet wont stop me from skiing. I got my alpine touring setup and skills.

I wonder if we can just suspend lift tickets....to keep tourists away, but still keep the lift turning. Or suspend food services. I know that would probably be bad for business though. But keeping your lungs healthy and your mind happy with exercise is going to be important through this. OUTDOOR activities where you are wearing mittens and a face mask should be fine! Just don't go into the lodge and you're good. Abasin doesn't even have any gondolas or trams. *Keep calm, wash your hands, avoid people and go outside to breathe FRESH AIR*.
