OK, this is one of my favorite times of the year. We had a beautiful, bluebird sunny day. That sunshine-thing sure feels good. I took a few runs late morning finding good skiing everywhere I went. Montezuma Bowl was good fun although its days are winding down. Skiing in June is something special. The mountains are still very, very white.
After work I bee-lined it for the Blue River North of Silverthorne. Summit County residents are lucky to have this gem of a Class III River. She is running quite high now (some of that water came from The Basin). Paddling this river in high water is the summer equivalent of skiing a great powder day in winter. With a few friends, Kay and I snaked our way down the river in our Paddle Cat. There were plenty of face shots, big waves, tight turns, and excitment. As the sun set over the Gore Range, we sipped a cold beverage at river's edge while laughing, sharing stories of our runs, and talking about the next adventure.
