It Is Snowing

It started snowing about 1/2 hour ago. While the Southern part of the state should do quite well, all forecasts are indicating that the Central and Northern mountains should also see a fair bit of snow. Air temperatures are already dropping and we are expecting ideal snowmaking conditions. Our plan on Ramrod is to have a really good night of snowmaking tonight, spend tomorrow removing all the snowmaking equipment, have the snowcats doze and prepare the trail tomorrow night, have the Ski Patrol do their rope, pad and sign thing and get that trail open as soon as we can.

When does snowmaking on the upper east wall commence?

First there is no chance Pali will be open any time soon. Second if Al and team follow the order they have done previously Lenawee Face aHbnd Dercm's Gulch are next to get top to bottom runs in. After that is Sundance, Molly Hogan and the rest of the front. Pali and the East Wall will open with natural snowfall. Things are looking Al, keep up the great work. Can't wait to get my first turns in next week.

Yeah! let's straight line rock garden on Sunday!

Seriously, how much depth do you guys think pali will have? Have you seen pictures of Pali during summer?

I suspect the "Is Pali open yet?" comments are just more subtle versions of asking if the East Wall will be open on opening day. Just people being silly...I doubt anyone is that actually that naiive!

Skied the Basin Tuesday. It was jumps, bumps, and ... rocks. I had a blast. Got there at 2:00 and did 10 laps. This snow will make for nice coverage and Ramrod will be a nice addition. I will see you there tomorrow.
