Shaping Up

5" New and still snowing.  Sunshine in the forecast for tomorrow.  I will be sure and give a "conditions report" this afternoon.  I can already tell you that it is going to be good.

I was wondering if you could shed any light on when or if the East Wall will be open. I've been looking forward to earning some turns at the Basin.

Totally. BDubs is dreamin if he thinks the East Wall will open this year. You'll need rock skis, a crash bag and a hearty waiver. That shiz is so far off.

Look for the East Wall to open once the base is somewhere over 50". March and April are historically our snowiest months. Today's base is 41". If I had to guess I would say the opening date for the East Wall will be in March.

Regarding Zuma Cornice, I suspect we will open that through MGD this coming week.

Honestly, Sad to say the East Wall most likely will not open this season. Some of the chutes have parts that are bare rock and the land of the giants area needs a good 4-6 Feet of snow.

I went to A-Basin last thursday and wen to Zuma Bowl and left as fast as I could. The skiing was that bad. Crusty, hard, icy "snow" that was not fun to ski. The mountain is a maze of rope since a lot of areas are still closed. I even saw huge ice patches in areas.
