East Wall Map

You have been asking for an East Wall map. A few years ago, Assistant Patrol Director Matt Norfleet (also an outstanding artist) prepared a really nice map with all those "secret" names. It took us a while, but we finally dug it back up and posted it on the website. Click "The Mountain" then "Trail Maps". Josie in Arapahoe Sports is working on getting it printed as a poster to be available in the store. Enjoy.

Thanks, Al.
I didn't realize there were so many named aspects to the east wall.
Has always seemed to me that many of these aspects would be dangerous if not impossible to access from above. So, which are accessed from the top? 1st notch, 2nd notch, and north pole?
Thanks

Forget the secrets, what is this the NSA? From left to right, Tree chutes, Y chute, TJ's, corner, snorkel, willy's wide, little jet, big jet, prom date, north pole proper, 2nd notch, 1st notch hidden couloir!!!!! OPEN EM ALL!!!!

Thanks. I seem to recall an old map at the Patrol Shack (when it was still a shack) up top with a map with the names.

Count me in for a poster.

I was lucky enough to be able to ski Hershey Highway > Birthday Chute circa 1996. That is some terrifying $*@#.

Where is the map for Palli? One time I rode up the lift with a very nice ski patroler, and was bragging that I was to finish skiing every run served by Palli in a single day. The patroler then pulled out a nicely laminated map showing many different names for different lines within each named run on Palli. He was nice, but not nice enough to give me the map! But, this is awesome for the east wall!!

For us newcomers: is the tree chutes staricase the ridge on the left that connects them from the top?

Many years ago there was a speed skiing competition starting high up in one of the chute/couliors on the east wall.

Any details on where, when, how fast, how many competitors, etc? Al any possibility of any old pictures?

It was the 1984 camel speed skiing comp. Held in corner chute on the east wall. Not sure how many competitors, or top speeds. I know weather and snow on the east wall was tough. They held an amateur comp on lower international. I hit 69 mph on a pair of 225 dynamic downhills on that course. Still have the hat, but no photos

Hey Al! thanks for the map. It seems to me a number of these lines never are open to the public. Is that right?

Which ones are permanently closed??

Hey man, thanks for that info. I can't figure out how to traverse the upper a-basin ridge. How do you get to hershey's highway? Thanks Man
