North Pole and Tree Chutes

Today was a really good day for a hike on the Wall. With a small group we did the North Pole hike and dropped into West Vertical. We skied North along The Traverse, went up The Tree Chutes Staircase, and dropped in The 8th Tree Chute. Beautiful day and great skiing. If you like skiing double black diamond terrain and you don't mind sweating a bit on the hike, I highly recommend these journeys. The view from the tops of both hikes is worth it. Throw in the skiing and a little workout - very nice.

Where is the tree chutes staircase? Is the ridge that connects the chutes from the top? would it be easier to snowshoe (I ride) from that side?

Does the East Wall hike to (1st notch, North Pole) open every year?

Almost every year. Didn't open until like May last year because snow never measured up until may. But the year before, if I'm not mistaken, east wall never opened

Access the tree chutes from the lower east wall traverse, go all the way out to the end. Don't snowshoe up. Read the uphill access policy.

Ok. I still like the idea presented by somebody else a few weeks ago: a hiking trai from the end(north?) of traverse
