Gaper Day

Spring at The Basin has a long history of tailgating, costumes and good fun. Over the last several years Gaper Day has become a big deal on April 1. While there is lots of fun associated with that day, there is also some behavior that is really not part of The Basin vibe and culture. Drinking too much and / or making fun of others is really not so cool. The Basin is all about This Mountain and its People. Come celebrate those things with us. Enjoy a safe day of skiing and leave the bad behavior at home.

I think this has something to do with Vail Resorts and not Abasin. This day should be embraced as Retro Day and you should celebrate it. Looks like I am moving away from Colorado because things just got worse here.

This sounds like Vail Resorts influenced your decisions. Why do you have to jump on their bandwagon? We thought you guys were cool. This day should be embraced as Retro Day so everyone can join in. Pretty stupid business move if you ask me. Looks like I'm not getting a pass next season...

I agree with this person. I would like to see concrete evidence besides seeing people have a ton of fun why this is a bad thing for the county? With April slowing down, it could really boost the economy for that typically slow week in April.

They clearly just don't want people bothering all their guests. Go, be drunk, bother your friends.

I think Al is just saying "have fun, but don't be a dick."

So everyone is saying you cant load the lift with a costume on....is this true? Not allowed to ski the Basin with an outfit? Please tell us this rumor is NOT true....

Ssdd no drinking/smoking in lift/line. Dont compromise liquor licenses. Pretty simple. Have fun. Have a little discretion.
