Moonlight Dinners

OK, this is not meant to be a shameless advertisement for our Black Mountain Lodge dinners.  It is just an update on bookings.  You can make reservations on our website.  Anyway, bookings are fairly robust.  38% of the available seating for all six dinners is already booked.  Of note, the New Year's Eve dinner is already 81% booked.  I am expecting it to be booked out within the week.  If you want to spend NYE at The Basin, you should book now.

Ski Magazine

There is a very nice article in the November issue of Ski Magazine.  Titled "10 Best Mountains You've Never Skied," the piece is actually a series of articles on great mountains that don't fit the big, glitzy destination resort definition.  A-Basin is featured and is in good company with Fernie, Kirkwood, Powder Mountain, and several others.  The Arapahoe section was written by Heather Hansman who has spent a lot of time sliding aorund The Basin.  I saw the hard copy version, but could not find it online.  I am sure it is out there somewhere.  If you know where to find it, send me the link.  I think A-Basin skiers will like Heather's story.

Snowmaking Photos

While their job can be intensely difficult and cold, the snowmakers have the luxury of seeing some beautiful sunrises, moonrises, and starry nights.  There is a whole other world at The Basin once the sun sets.  Enjoy these two sunrise photos from snowmaker Tim Walsh.

Lenawee Update

Rode a snowmobile to the top today and hiked down Lenawee Face and Dercum's Gulch.  There has been some marked improvement from snowmaking.  We aren't breaking any snowmaking speed records up there, but we are moving along.  I had my camera, but I forgot to take pictures.  Sorry.  Looks like a storm is heading our way this weekend.  You know I will be checking the forecast about 12 times per day until the storm arrives.
