Rise and Shine Rando Race

Tuesday was the first event in the A-Basin Rise and Shine Rando Race Series.  34 skiers had a 7:00 AM start skinng to Black Mountain Lodge, skiing to the bottom, and skinning to The Summit.  Wow, can you believe the winner, Greg Ruckman, did all that in 40 minutes?  I can't do that lap that fast using the chairlifts.  A-Basin's Assistant Ski Patrol Director Becs Hodgetts was the top women's finisher in 54 minutes (a word to the wise - don't try to keep up with her).  Wilderness Sports provided logistical support and prizes for top finishers.  There are three more races in the series, December 18 and January 8 and 22.  If that sounds appealing to you, come join the fun.  You can register online or just show up on race day.  My hat is off to all the competitors.  Thanks for participating.

You know today was just a really nice day on the hill. I went out late morning and skied all the trails.  The snow is good.  The weather was perfect.  As I talk to people skiing and riding, the common theme is, "You can't complain about what is open."  It was really quite nice.  As the week progresses, it looks like we will be facing a weather change.  Maybe a good weather change.

Holiday Shopping

I just might be the world's worst Christmas shopper.  Usually, I am either last minute or not at all.  It was kind of a surprise for me yesterday to actually get some shopping done, at least for my out of town relatives.  I went into Arapahoe Sports.  Teresa has all kinds of groovy A-Basin clothes and gear.  She helped me pick out some goodies.  And I am done.  I am especially lucky because my sisters ABSOLUTELY LOVE A-Basin logo wear.  Check that one off the list.
