Never Tired

I never get tired of the views from this place.  Went out for a few runs in the afternoon just as the sun was breaking through the clouds.  The green, white, and blue makes for some striking contrasts.  If you haven't been here the last few days, you'd be amazed at how good the snow is.  The natural snow is a beautiful thing.

This afternoon I met a woman from Bogus Basin near Boise, ID.  She was very complimentary about not just the mountains, but the employees and skiers and riders that hang out here.  She said the culture here reminded her of her home mountain.  While I have never skied Bogus, I have heard great things about it.  She said she felt at home here.

Pure Awesomeness Factor

According to Forbes magazine, we score pretty well in the "Pure Awesomeness Factor."  They would have liked the skiing today.  We are expecting another 1-3" tonight and another storm Friday-ish.  The webcams are telling a pretty good story this evening.

The Storm Did Not Disappoint

This was a good storm.  We ended up with 9" and favorable winds.  Very good skiing.  The Ski Patrol had enough snow to get out and stomp around.  If you look closely in the background of these photos you can see Powerline and Spinnaker all packed out.  The snow gives us a lot to work with and the forecast calls for a little more.  It puts a big smile on my face.  Winter is here.

I just drove home from The Basin. It was one of those 30 mph, it is dumping, kind of drives. I am certain Sunday will be the best day of the season so far. Get up early, drive safely, and be in the Black Mountain Express maze by 8:30. It will be a bit chilly, but the skiing is going to be tremendous.
