Sundance Open

Sundance will open today by mid-morning, if not sooner.  We have 3" more inches of new snow plus a great night of grooming and snowmaking.  You will be pleased with today's surface.  Very pleased.

Footpacking

We have had 40 inches of snow since October 13.  Our average snowfall  for October is 18".  We are starting to see some significant natural accumulation in key areas.  The Ski Patrol has been ski cutting and foot packing in Lenawee Parks, Norway, and the West Wall. This afternoon I joined them for a couple of passes in the Parks. I was impressed.  We have a lot of snow for November 1 with more coming Monday. On snowmaking trails we have about 18-24" of man made snow. Our natural snow base is 14". I would call it a very deep 14". Typically, we start opening non-snowmaking trails like Lenawee Parks, Humbug, and West Wall when the natural base is in the 20-25" range.

Should Be A Great Weekend

Check out these images of Sundance I took about 4 PM today.  Looking good.  After 3 very snowy and wintry days, it looks like Saturday and Sunday will be warm, bluebird days. The next storm rolls in Monday. Now that Keystone, Copper, and Loveland are open, our crowds have eased way back. Come on up tomorrow for a great Basin scene. Grab lunch on the Black Mountain Lodge deck and soak it all in.

Call It A Foot

We reported 5" this morning and 10" so far for the storm.  It has been snowing steadily since the 5 AM report.  Let's just call it a foot so far.  A few tours down Sundance this morning indicate that trail is very close to being open.  A little bit more snowcat work and snowmaking on the lower right side and it will be good to go. Just a beautiful, beautiful day.
