All Day Long

We have had a phenomenal first day of snowmaking. The snowmakers fired up the system and ran at full capacity for most of the evening. The temps stayed cool enough to keep going through the day. The evening forecast for tonight looks very good. In fact, the forecast for several days looks very good. Whenever we can make snow through the day, we are happy.

If everything went perfectly, cold temps and plenty of water, we can get the mountain open in less than a week. Typically, it does not go perfectly. We mix in some warm, non-snowmaking weather and it takes a little longer. We will see how it plays out the next week or two.

Leaves On The Ground

A Saturday afternoon bike ride found me in Frisco. More and more aspen leaves are on the ground. This is another sign that we are getting closer and closer to opening up. Let's watch the coming weather and see if we can get some snow on the ground to cover those leaves.

The forecast looks good to begin snowmaking this week.

Good One Tony

Last night was Summit County's annual premier social event and hospital foundation fundraiser, "Dancing With The Mountain Stars." Similar to the TV show, each year 8-10 Summit County locals are selected as participants. The dancers spend about 3 months practicing with professional dancers. The event is always a hoot.

This year was Ski Patrol Director Tony Cammarata's turn.......and he shined.  Cutting up the floor with the Tango, Tony overwhelmingly won the "People's Choice Award." Sporting a white suit and some serious eye make up, Tony stole the show. Great job and congratulations Tony. Thanks for making Summit County great.

Snowmaking Reservoir

The snowmaking reservoir is completely full and ready to go. Looking at the forecast, we just might start making snow this coming week. We will keep a close eye on conditions. Starting Monday, the nights are looking pretty cold.

As I  write this, four of the six Moonlight Dinners are sold out. There is still space available for the New Year's Eve Dinner and the April Randonee Polynesian Luau. If you are interested, book right now.
