Speculating

Despite numerous requests, we still are not speculating on an opening date.  I heard Wild Mountain, Minnesota opened yesterday with 2 rope tows.

I love early season WROD

Those two rope tows looked super weak! I'll wait for a real mountain..

Everyone knows the real competition is against Loveland...hoping for this week!

You are doing the right thing in waiting to get a real run open! A-Basin could have put a couple of snow guns under Molly Hogan lift and "opened" over the weekend. But why? Just to beat Wild Mountain MN? We'll just wait and see if Wild Mountain can keep their 100 yard long sliver of snow open for even a week. Quality and quantity is worth waiting a little longer for!

I'm putting my money on a weekend first day. I'm betting this Saturday!

Well said! It is better to open strong, than to open weak and early...! A-Basin, I have total faith in your snow crew's judgement on when it is right to open!

I bet Friday.

My prediction is Sunday. Because that's the day I leave for Jamaica. I'll be on the beach thinking about snow!

I would rather be on the beaches of Jamaica than waiting in a 30 min line for a 30 sec run. Love A Basin but do not love one open run. You people are nuts over nothing

OMG wild mountain WTF?!!! that seems highly dangerous and not even that fun. A basin opens at least a real run and a fun little snow park. I bet all the rain WM is seeing wont help that patch of snow.. looks like saint marys but smaller. HAHAHAH not worth straping in.. COLORADO is the best, REAL question for AL is when if ever, will we try and go year round? i prefer winter over 70+ days in the 90's. abay has my heart, cant wait to hang out again. SEE YOU SOON!

Being from Minnesota, I learned on the icy chunk that is Wild. It was a great place to become fearless for the big mountain riding. They shouldn't have posted as open. There's no rocks to bury under a thin layer of slush. I'm defiantly not going to pay any amount of money to take a rope up to fight a crowd to get a couple rails. I used to pay 35 bucks for a buddy pass at CB and got epic powder days off Teo Bowl. I'm headed back out west, leaving Wild behind. Think I'm doing A-Basin, since it will be early in December. Staying with friends in Denver. Is the bus out a good way to get up there if I don't rent a car?

I'm visiting some friends in Denver and hope to get some riding in. I've been to Breck early and it's hit or miss. Is A-Basin a good one to take the bus up to from Denver in the second week of December? (Not a gaper) just moved out f the mountains for family stuff and hope to return soon.

Rip on Wild all you wish ;)

I think it is pretty cool Wild Mountain pulled off an opening. We'd have done the same thing. For a couple of days, people had some fun sliding on snow.
